Monitoring SSL Certificate expiration date with NetCrunch
Learn how easy you can monitor an SSL certificate with NetCrunch. Use it to be informed about SSL certificate expiration time and the properties of such certificate.
Add SSL Certificate sensor
- Open node settings of the node where the certificate needs to be monitored (e.g. the website server node).
- Click on + Add Monitoring Sensor
- SSL Certificate sensor is located in the Security category.
- Unless the port that is used differs from 443, no additional configuration is needed.
- Test Sensor in the top right corner. After testing - you should be able to see all information related to the certificate.
Default configuration covers all critical properties of the certificate, including:
- Unsafe SSL connection
- Certificate was changed
- Certificate is about to expire (alert is by default generated 30 days before the expiration date)
- Certificate expired
- Certificate revoked
- Certificate authority is invalid
- Public key is weak
Additionally, this sensor allows deeper monitoring of a given certificate, such as:
- SSL connection property check
- SSL Certificate field check
- SSL Connection status change
- SSL Certificate status change
- Public Key status change
